Terms & Conditions

1. Who we are

This website and the services described on it are operated by Israeli Hebrew Institute (“IHI”, “we”, “us”), a business registered in Israel under business registration number 212291405, operating as a sole proprietor registered with the Israel Tax Authority as an exempt dealer (עוסק פטור).

2. Accepting these terms

These terms govern your use of this website and any lesson, course, or other service you buy from us. By using the site, by joining one of our free groups or courses, or by paying for a lesson, you confirm that you have read these terms and that you agree to them.

If you do not agree to them, please do not use the site or buy our services.

Where these terms are translated into another language and the versions differ, the English version on this page is the one that applies.

3. Age requirement

Our services are for people aged 18 and over. By buying a lesson or joining any of our groups you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a binding contract.

We do not knowingly provide services to, or collect personal information from, anyone under 18. If we learn that a customer is under 18 we may cancel the transaction and refund any amount paid.

We do not accept students under 18, with or without a parent’s consent. If you want lessons for someone younger, write to us and we will tell you honestly whether we can help.

4. What we provide

Depending on what you have bought or joined, we may provide:

  • Private one-to-one Hebrew lessons, delivered live online by video call (Zoom), taught in English by our teachers.
  • Lesson materials, such as downloadable worksheets and vocabulary notes that accompany a lesson.
  • Free resources, including our Daily Hebrew Word WhatsApp group and our beginners course published on YouTube. These are provided free of charge, as they are, and we may change or stop them at any time.

A standard lesson is 45 minutes. We agree the schedule with you directly.

5. Prices and payment

Prices are agreed with you directly before you pay, and are quoted in Israeli shekels (ILS). The price we quote is the total you pay. We are registered as an exempt dealer (עוסק פטור), so no VAT is added to our prices and none is charged separately. There are no handling fees, booking fees, or other charges on top of the agreed price.

Payment is made through a secure payment link that we send you after we have spoken and agreed what you are buying. Payments are processed by our payment provider; we do not see, handle, or store your full card details at any point.

You will receive a receipt (קבלה) by email for every payment. As an exempt dealer we issue receipts rather than tax invoices, and no VAT appears on them.

5.1 Validity of lesson packages, expiry and automatic renewal פקיעת תוקף וחידוש אוטומטי

Lessons are sold as a package (כרטיסייה) of a fixed number of lessons. Every package is valid for one and a half months — 45 days — from the day it is bought or renewed, and all of the lessons in it must be taken within that period.

Lessons that have not been taken by the end of the 45 days expire and are lost. They are not carried over to the next package, not converted to credit, and not refunded, except where section 7 gives you a statutory right to a refund.

At the end of each 45-day period the package renews automatically for a further package of the same size and price, and the payment method you gave us is charged for it, unless you have ended the arrangement under section 7.7 before the renewal date. You may end it at any time; lessons remaining in the current package can still be taken until that package's own expiry date.

It is your responsibility to book your lessons early enough in each period to use them. We send reminders when a package is running out, but a reminder that does not arrive does not extend the package.

6. Supply and delivery policy מדיניות אספקת השירות

Everything we sell is a digital service delivered online. Nothing is shipped, and there is no physical product, no courier, and no delivery charge. There is therefore no shipping cost anywhere on this site, in Israel or abroad.

How the service reaches you, and when:

What you boughtHow it is suppliedWhen
Confirmation of your purchase Email receipt, sent automatically Immediately on payment
Your lesson schedule WhatsApp message or email from us Within 1 business day of payment
A lesson Live video call (Zoom); the link is sent to you Link 2 hours before each lesson; the lesson itself at the time you and we agreed
Lesson materials (worksheets, vocabulary notes) Email, or a download link Within 1 business day after the lesson they belong to
Free WhatsApp group / YouTube course Join link on this website Immediate

Business days are Sunday to Thursday, excluding Israeli public holidays. A lesson is treated as supplied lesson by lesson, at the scheduled time of each lesson — not on the date you paid. If you buy a package of ten lessons, nine of them are still undelivered after the first.

Lessons are delivered online only. You need a device with a camera, a microphone, and a stable internet connection. We are not responsible for problems caused by your own equipment or connection.

If we cannot supply on time. If we are late supplying anything above, or cannot supply it at all, we will tell you as soon as we know, offer you a new time, and — if that does not suit you — refund what you paid for the part we did not supply, in full and within 14 days, to the same payment method you used.

7. Cancelling a transaction and refunds

Your right to cancel is set by the Israeli Consumer Protection Law, 5741–1981 and the regulations made under it. This section describes those rights and how we apply them. Nothing here reduces any right the law gives you.

7.1 Your statutory right to cancel a distance transaction

Because you buy from us without meeting us in person, your purchase is a distance transaction under the Consumer Protection Law. For a service, you may cancel within 14 days of the date of the transaction, or of the date you received the written disclosure document, whichever is later — provided that you cancel at least two days, not counting rest days, before the service is due to begin.

7.2 Longer cancellation period for certain customers

If you are a person with a disability, a senior citizen (65 or over), or a new immigrant to Israel, and the transaction was made after a conversation between us — including a phone call or an online conversation — you may cancel within four months of the transaction or of receiving the disclosure document, whichever is later, on the same terms. We may ask you for a document confirming your status.

7.3 How to cancel

Send us a cancellation notice by any of these routes, and include your name and ID or the email address used for the purchase:

The quickest route is the one-click link below. It opens an email addressed to us with the subject already filled in — add your name and send it.

Send a cancellation notice

We will confirm receipt of your cancellation in writing.

7.4 Cancellation fee

The law would let us charge a cancellation fee of 5% of the transaction price or ILS 100, whichever is lower. We do not charge it. Cancel within the period described above and you get the full amount back, with nothing deducted.

7.5 Lessons already given

If you cancel after some lessons have already been given, we refund the amount you paid less the value of the lessons already delivered, and less any cancellation fee that applies under clause 7.4.

7.6 How we refund

We refund to the same payment method you used, within 14 days of receiving your cancellation notice, and we cancel any related charge or invoice.

7.7 Ongoing arrangements

If you are on a continuing arrangement with us — for example a recurring monthly plan — you may end it at any time by telling us. The arrangement ends within three business days of the day we receive your notice, or within six business days if you send it by post, and we stop charging you from that point. Lessons left in the package you have already paid for can be taken until that package expires under section 5.1; they are not refunded beyond what section 7 requires.

7.8 If we cancel

If we have to cancel a lesson and cannot offer you a reasonable alternative time, you may choose between a replacement lesson and a refund of that lesson.

8. Rescheduling and missed lessons

Life happens, and we would rather move a lesson than lose it. Please tell us as early as you can.

A lesson can be moved free of charge if you tell us at least 24 hours before it starts. A lesson cancelled with less notice than that, or one you simply do not attend, counts as delivered.

This is our own scheduling policy and it is separate from your statutory right to cancel the transaction under section 7, which always stands regardless of what this section says.

9. Warranty and our responsibility for the service אחריות

9.1 What we warrant

We warrant that:

  • Lessons are given by teachers who are qualified to teach Hebrew and who teach in English.
  • Each lesson runs for the agreed length, and is planned around your level and your goals.
  • The materials we provide are ours to give you and are suitable for the lesson they belong to.
  • If a lesson is cut short or seriously disrupted by a problem on our side, we will repeat it or refund it, as you prefer.

This warranty covers every lesson for 7 days after it is given, and any material we send you for 30 days after we send it. Tell us within that time and we will put it right at no charge — by repeating the lesson, replacing the material, or refunding it, whichever you prefer. There is no cost to you for making a warranty claim: write to info@israelihebrewinstitute.com or message us on WhatsApp, and we will answer within 2 business days.

9.2 What we do not warrant

Learning a language depends on the learner as much as the teacher. We do not promise any particular level of fluency, exam result, or rate of progress, and nothing on this website should be read as such a promise.

The free resources — the Daily Hebrew Word WhatsApp group and the beginners course on YouTube — are given free of charge and as they are, with no warranty of any kind. We may change or stop them at any time.

We do not warrant that this website, Zoom, WhatsApp, or YouTube will be available without interruption. Those are third-party services and we do not control them.

9.3 Exclusion of liability פטור מאחריות

Israeli Hebrew Institute and/or anyone acting on its behalf shall not be liable for any direct and/or indirect damage caused to the customer as a result of using the service and/or the product purchased on this website. Use of the lessons, the materials, the website and the free resources is entirely at your own responsibility and risk.

Israeli Hebrew Institute ו/או מי מטעמו לא יהיו אחראים לכל נזק ישיר ו/או עקיף שייגרם ללקוח כתוצאה משימוש בשירות ו/או במוצר שנרכש באתר. השימוש בשיעורים, בחומרי הלימוד, באתר ובתכנים החינמיים הוא באחריותו המלאה והבלעדית של הלקוח.

To the maximum extent permitted by Israeli law, this exclusion covers every kind of loss or damage, however it arises, including:

  • direct, indirect, incidental, special, punitive or consequential loss;
  • loss of profit, income, business, opportunity, savings, time or data;
  • any decision you make, or action you take or do not take, in reliance on a lesson, a material, the website, or anything said or written by a teacher — our services are Hebrew lessons and study materials only, and are not legal, medical, financial, immigration, educational-placement or professional advice of any kind;
  • your progress, level, fluency, exam or interview results, or any outcome of learning with us;
  • the availability, security or conduct of Zoom, WhatsApp, YouTube, Google, our payment provider, or any other third-party service, device or network you use to attend lessons or reach our content;
  • damage to, or loss of use of, your computer, phone, software or data;
  • anything said or done by another student, including in the community and the WhatsApp groups;
  • any lesson that is cancelled, rescheduled, cut short or missed for any reason, beyond the credit or refund described in sections 7 and 8, and any lesson that expires unused under section 5.1;
  • any claim arising from mistakes or omissions in the content, or from content that is out of date.

If, despite this section, we are found liable to you for any reason, our total liability for all claims together shall not exceed the amount you actually paid us in the 30 days before the event giving rise to the claim, and in any case shall not exceed the price of one lesson.

You agree to indemnify Israeli Hebrew Institute and anyone acting on its behalf against any claim, loss or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these terms or your misuse of the service.

You are responsible for the equipment, software and internet connection you use to attend lessons, for keeping your own device and accounts secure, and for making sure that learning with us is suitable for you. Any claim against us must be brought within 12 months of the event it relates to, after which it is waived.

This section applies to the fullest extent permitted by the law of the State of Israel and does not purport to exclude any liability that Israeli law does not allow to be excluded; where any part of it is held unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.

10. Intellectual property

All content on this site and in our lessons — text, worksheets, recordings, videos, the course structure, the name “Israeli Hebrew Institute”, and our logo — belongs to us or is used by us with permission. It is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

You may use the materials we give you for your own personal study. You may not copy, publish, sell, share, or teach from them, and you may not record a lesson, without our written permission first.

If you believe anything on this site infringes your rights, write to us at info@israelihebrewinstitute.com and we will look into it promptly.

11. Your conduct

In lessons and in our groups, we expect ordinary courtesy: no abuse, harassment, hate speech, spam, or advertising. We may remove anyone from a group, and end lessons without a refund for the remaining balance, if this is seriously or repeatedly breached.

12. Limitation of liability

Israeli Hebrew Institute and anyone acting on its behalf are not liable for any direct or indirect damage caused to you as a result of using the service or the product purchased on this website, on the terms set out in full in section 9.3, which applies to every part of these terms and to every part of the service, the website and the free resources.

The service is provided as described in these terms. Beyond the specific warranty in section 9.1, it is provided as is and as available, without any other warranty, express or implied.

This section applies to the fullest extent permitted by the law of the State of Israel.

13. Privacy

How we handle your personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version published on this page is the one that applies, and the date at the top shows when it last changed. A change does not affect a transaction you have already made — that stays governed by the terms in force when you paid.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by Israeli law. The competent courts of the Tel Aviv district have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them, without prejudice to any right you have under mandatory consumer law in your own country of residence.
