Accessibility Statement

Last updated: 6 September 2026

Our commitment

Israeli Hebrew Institute wants everyone to be able to use this website and to learn with us, including people with disabilities. We work to meet Israeli Standard 5568, which is based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 at Level AA, as required by the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Accessibility Adjustments to Service) Regulations, 5773–2013.

What we have done

  • The whole site can be operated with a keyboard alone, and the focus outline is always visible.
  • A “Skip to content” link is the first thing a keyboard or screen-reader user reaches.
  • Text and interface colours were checked against the WCAG contrast thresholds.
  • Headings are in a logical order, and landmarks are marked up so screen readers can navigate the page.
  • Images that carry meaning have text alternatives; decorative elements are hidden from screen readers.
  • If your device or browser is set to reduce motion, every animation on the site turns off and the page stays fully readable.
  • The layout works down to small phone screens and stays usable when text is enlarged.
  • Lessons run on Zoom, which supports screen readers, live captions, and keyboard navigation.

Where we fall short

We are honest about the parts that are not there yet:

  • Video reviews on the home page are hosted on YouTube. Automatic captions are available, but we have not yet added reviewed captions or transcripts to all of them.
  • A formal accessibility survey by a certified accessibility surveyor has not yet been carried out on this site. The work described above was done against the WCAG criteria directly. We have started the process of commissioning a survey and will update this statement with its findings and its date.

Telling us about a problem

If you hit an accessibility barrier anywhere on this site, or you need something from us in a different format, please tell us. It helps us fix it for everyone.

Our accessibility coordinator is reachable directly on any of these:

We aim to reply within two business days and to fix confirmed problems as quickly as we reasonably can.
